Welp, looks like i took too long.

Have to create a new idea and make that, i have the tools i've accumulated along the way but it finally looks like i'll have to kill out break. :/

Now with a fresh slate to start with, what kinda action adventure game should i create....

Think for now i'll just brain storm for a bit.

:About the game:


This is a zombie apocalypse game where you get to play through as one of three characters.  Each story line differs between, and with random generators items that you can find along the way will be in different locations.

This game features many scripts along with some of my own that I wrote.  It will also contain some wicked events such as lock picking, computer hacking, and shop bartering.

Each player also has individual advantages such as being stronger or able to run for greater lengths.

VIC MICHAELS
Vic is a well-built man who stands at 5’ 10”, and is a retired coast guard. He spends most of his new found free time in the garage working on his latest project created from scrap metal. He lives in a medium class house with a caring wife and a son to be proud of. When not in the garage working he takes some time to head to the local gym to stay in shape. His hobbies include metal working, spending some time at the bar with friends, and hunting deer.

LISA MICHAELS
Lisa is a local business woman, 5’ 8” tall. She gained her career in business by being charismatic. She knows how to get a good deal, and can usually talk a salesman down to an agreeable price. She is happily married to Vic, and does what she can to make sure her son James lives a successful life. Her hobbies include girls’ night at the local club, watching the latest update for the soap opera “Hour Glass”, and the occasional jog around town.

JAMES MICHAELS
James is a scrawny individual standing at 6’ 2”, whom is exceptionally skilled with computers. He has always been a quiet individual with a little amount of friends. This leaves him with little to care for. James is a stay at home college student studying to become a computer technician. His hobbies include taking care of his cat “Wiggles”, building small circuits, and reading the latest issue of his favorite comic, “It came from Space”.

 -- Opener --

The game starts out on a Friday with Lisa at her home with her caring husband Vic and their lovely son James. It’s just the start of a normal day with all the normal routines of getting ready. They just finish up breakfast and then each one heads on their ways, James a stay at home college student, Vic a retired coast guard, and Lisa a secretary at a local business. After they exchange their good byes they start on what they think is just another normal day.

Lisa makes her way into the office and starts on her normal routine of stamping, sorting, and signing papers, occasionally getting coffee for everyone in the office, and sucking up to her sexiest ass of a boss. While on her computer typing up this months review on the number of wickets sold an announcement on the TV catches the attention of a few office workers. This TV announcement informs everyone that the local girl that was recently attacked in her yard by a stray dog was released from the hospital with minor injuries and the dog was later caught and put down. This of course hits some of the workers with anger about the dog’s owner and some sympathy for the poor girl. Neither the less, the moment is short lived in the office and everyone returns back to work. Some time passes by and yet another announcement on the TV catches the attention of the office workers.

“This just in, two dead and another three hospitalized after a local charity event held for the girl that was brutally attacked by a stray dog. Witnesses say that they where attending to help raise money for the girls family when the little girl attacked and bit two children. Some nearby adults rushed over to grab the girl and tend to the children that where attacked. Three adults along with the two children that had been badly bitten are in the hospital. The two children however did not make it and shortly passed away.”

-- Get Ready --

The workers in the office appalled by this recent news take a minute to let it soak in and remorse the recent death of the children. The day being almost over, Lisa makes her way back home after stopping by a local grocery store to get dinner and to do some miscellaneous shopping, after all it is pay day. She then heads home to make dinner for the family and to hear everyone’s plans for the weekend. James is heading downtown to sleep over at a friends house. Vic is thinking about heading to the local junk yard to get some parts for his garage project. Lisa is thinking about sleeping in and taking the day off for some much needed relaxation.

-- Sh*t Hits the Fan --

Lisa awakes near the afternoon to an empty house. She gets ready for the day and heads down stairs to watch her favorite show. She sits on the couch and turns the TV on to a blank screen. Trying every channel she gets no luck, after a minor fit, she heads into the kitchen to get something to eat. Pondering about what to do for the day, she decides she will head outside for a jog.

:Features:



  • Weapon Condition - weapons will wear down lose effectiveness and will require repairs over time.

  • Skills - not magic, but skills that will aid you in normal NPC interactions and shopping, along with combat and a few other useful ones.

  • Item Storage - find and store valuable items in side of misc. containers that you will encounter along your path.

  • Item Weight - items will have various weights, this also means that you will be limited on the amount of supplies you will be able to carry.

  • Dynamic Shopping - shop clerks will only have a limited number of items to sell at any given time.

  • Randomization - each time you play items and other misc. things will be in new locations allowing for a higher replay value.

  • Varying Story Line - each character will have unique story elements to make campaigns differ from one another.

  • Time - there are day cycles along with random weather that will affect how you play.

  • Dynamic Enemies - enemies differ in types and have different behaviors to make them unpredictable.

  • Weapons - along with the vast number of weapons you will also be able to create your own items at crafting stations from items you find while exploring.

  • 360 Aiming - shoot in any direction you want to.

Well there is no released date yet that i can establish, how ever im shooting for a demo to be completed by at least august of this year.

There is a lot that needs to be done and im only one man....

however i am proud to state that most of almost every resource is collected. (meaning that the game just needs to be built, the tools are and supplies are here)

so all the hard stuff is done already its just the process of making maps and the NPC and what have you.

I'm gonna put up a progression bar in my sig so you guys can get an idea on how far it is in my eyes.

uh, well i was hoping to have a demo playable by all 3 characters, the weapons will be limited, and you'll only play a few missions each, its mostly just to get a feel/taste for the game.

(also im even thinking of making the demo slightly unrelated to the story, so you when you play the game it wont seem like you did the mission already cause you played the demo) - JUST a thought...

I also count the game as being completed by the number of missions you complete. I'm shooting for least 60 or so missions, and are working with at least 4 or so towns.
(they will be large and full of sub areas, such as sub ways and sewers)

OH, size, well i think it will be some where around 110 mb, my whole plan is to keep it as small as possible, and i have set limits to certain things sizes.

(file right now is 50 mb, 38 mb of which is just audio files.)

actually i tried compressing more then once, it ends up making the file larger...

if i make a self extractor (export game) and then compress that as a .7z it will quite small. (like 7/10 of the size)

Well looking around at some stuff, and i am sorta feeling like i would like a team of people on this. (feel the game would be better)

I will be looking for and artist, and map maker, and possibly a script writer.

I have views on this game that make it seem huge, and i think the fact that more then myself and a few others that are inexperienced with the software would make the game better and created faster.

If any one is interested PM me about what your capable of and i will see about adding you to the team.

Yea, just editing sprites, i need the character suffixes for XAS done. The tile set is nearly done it just needs some small changes and items that will be needed later in the game added.

Will keep it in mind game face, also i really like the tile so far.

About the artist, there is a tile set that i composed together of modern sets, its a nice collection. Id just need your help in editing the minor stuff.
(Finding stuff that will be needed that isn't in the set already, and small edits to what is already in it. Such as scaling and color editing to make sure that every thing looks like it belongs together.)

As well as the small edits to the character sets of the main's. There is a collection of weapons that are already drawn, you just need to make the actor look like they are holding it.

Well the combat time is sorta an action limiter, it will only allow you to shoot, use an item so many times before you half to take a break to let it recharge. its sorta like stamina in this game, you can only swing a bat so many times before you tier your self out.

the back ground is actually going to be replaced, i also forgot to up load a game over screenie, (awesome pic by arrow-1)

I'll up load it latter.

^ agreed, there will be dogs and other special infected *cough*L4D*cough* types as well. There are the normal and then there will be some that require more thinking then just aim and shoot. If you have any ideas on types that would be interesting i'd love t hear them.

By obstacles what do you exactly mean?

By obstacles, I mean like ways to get to another part of the level, such as in L4D, you would have to use a switch or something, activate something to get past a door. I had an idea over the weekend, but I lost it. >_<

How about zombies with guns? Very Happy

I'd look at previous similar zombie games - one of my favourites is "Zombies Ate My Neighbours" on the snes/genesis.

@M - well zombies sorta pass as retarded. so guns wouldn't fit in. How ever having some that can shoot something can suffice. (acid, or blinding concoction.)

o_O Soo the zombies in "____ of the living dead" are retarted, but can still use guns!? Woahh! Not sure if it was the Living Dead series or not but I remember zombies shooting with shotguns!

really? never heard of it before though. But still, most of the zombies in this game will just be normal, and then will be the special which use their own attacks that could be like projectiles.

@game face, i suppose it could be intestines, would make it interesting, what about a button masher that would make you free your self?
